Aid and Comfort: Office Hours

Do you feel overwhelmed?  Bad?  Afraid?  Confused?  Exhausted?  Depressed?  Jenny Magnus wants to hold your hand.  Not an art project, but more of a framing of the need and efficacy of human connection, Aid and Comfort: Office Hours has had weekly timeslots over different periods and locations, where Jenny Magnus has made herself available for the simplest of things- comfort.  She has no answers, god no.  She has no power, status, or even much good will.  What Jenny Magnus has to offer is humanity.  She will hold your hand, and even hug you (not much of a hugger usually), because we all need the aid and comfort of non-solving, non-authoritative, and non-confrontative contact.  If you don’t want to hold hands, that’s ok too.  Jenny Magnus will sit with you and listen to you gripe or cry or stutter, and she won’t try to fix anything.  You don’t even have to look at each other if that’s too much.  Just sitting together with a sympathetic other, who is suffering too, and do the heavy sigh of not-knowing, can be a comfort and an aid.  At least, Jenny Magnus finds it so.  You are invited to ask for aid and comfort from one of Chicago’s old art stalwarts.  You can talk about your work too.  Whatever you want.  No documentation, totally ephemeral,  the least we can do for each other is be available.

Scheduled sporatically, as the inspiration and time arises.
